🏆 Traditional Tug-of-War 🏆
Tug-of-war is one of the traditional sports that best demonstrates how a team cooperates. In tribal life, activities like building homes, transporting goods, and undertaking collective labor frequently demand “collective effort”. This spirit of cooperation has naturally made tug-of-war a vital activity for strengthening tribal cohesion.
Unlike modern competitive tug-of-war, which demands high standardization and technical requirements, traditional tug-of-war preserves the original display of strength and cooperation styles of each team: some rely on rhythm or explosive power, while other teams showcase the tribe’s inherent cooperative synergy. Therefore, every team has its own style—distinct team characteristics can be seen from the verbal commands, stance, and pulling method.
At the tug-of-war competition, you witness not only sheer power, but also how the unique identity of each team is revealed at either end of the rope.
